The HERTEL E107004001 is a square-end, single-end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in metal cutting environments. Built from M7 high speed steel with an uncoated finish, this end mill features a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1-3/8 inch length of cut, and a 1/2 inch shank diameter for secure toolholder engagement. The 42-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and help reduce cutting forces across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With centercutting capability, it can plunge directly into a workpiece without a pre-drilled entry point. Machinists and toolroom operators working in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments will find this a capable, straightforward cutting tool.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling applications on manual mills and CNC machining centers. Its regular-length geometry makes it a practical choice for standard-depth pockets and slots where rigidity is a priority. The right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration is the conventional setup for the majority of milling machines encountered in general shop use. The 2-flute design provides adequate chip clearance when working in softer steels, aluminum alloys, and similar machinable materials.
Designed as a standard replacement or stock end mill for toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch straight shank, compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders commonly found on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolroom practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from its holder. Set tool projection to the minimum length required for the operation to maximize rigidity and reduce deflection risk. Inspect the cutting edges and shank for damage before each use, and apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material being machined.
