The HERTEL E1039056 is a single-end, four-flute square end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in machine shops and production environments. Manufactured from M7 high speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it measures 7/8 inches in diameter with a 1-7/8 inch length of cut and a 4-1/8 inch overall length. The 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and consistent cut quality on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Center-cutting capability allows the tool to plunge directly into workpiece material, adding versatility across slotting, profiling, and pocketing applications. Machinists and toolroom operators working with manual mills, knee mills, or CNC machining centers are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for use on carbon steel, alloy steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials in both job shop and production settings. The regular-length configuration and 7/8 inch shank diameter make it a straightforward fit for standard R8, CAT, BT, and direct-mount toolholders commonly found on vertical milling machines. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional and climb milling. The 1-7/8 inch length of cut falls within the 1.5 to 2.0 inch cut range for this tool class, making it well matched to medium-depth slot and pocket work without excessive overhang.
Designed as a standard single-end square end mill for use in any milling machine or machining center that accepts a 7/8 inch straight shank toolholder, including collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following safe toolchanging procedures with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the toolholder to the equipment manufacturer's specification before operating. Verify runout with a dial indicator after setup; excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish. Always apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material and observe machine RPM and feed rate guidelines for high speed steel tooling.
