The HERTEL E1031026 is a 4-flute, single-end square end mill designed for general-purpose milling in high speed steel (HSS) grade M7. With a 13/32 inch (0.4063 inch) cutting diameter and a 1 inch length of cut, it suits slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations across a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 3/8 inch shank mounts directly into standard collets or end mill holders. A 30-degree helix angle and right-hand spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation. This tool is uncoated and non-centercutting, making it best suited for side milling and profiling rather than direct plunge cuts. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this geometry for production and maintenance machining environments.
The E1031026 fits conventional vertical and horizontal milling machines, CNC machining centers, and knee mills where a 3/8 inch shank is compatible. Its regular-length geometry and 2-11/16 inch overall length work well in standard tool holders without requiring extended-reach setups. The 1 inch length of cut covers most common slotting depths in this diameter range. Applications include step milling, shoulder milling, and contour profiling on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials in job shop, toolroom, and production floor settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard toolroom end mill compatible with any milling machine or machining center accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank end mill holder or collet chuck.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using an appropriate collet, end mill holder, or Weldon-style set-screw holder sized for a 3/8 inch shank. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Confirm holder runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on uncoated HSS tooling. Because this tool is non-centercutting, avoid direct axial plunge cuts into solid material.
