The HERTEL E1030953 is a 2-flute, single-end square end mill manufactured from M7 high speed steel. It features a 15/16-inch (0.9375 inch) cutting diameter, a 1-1/2-inch length of cut, and a 5/8-inch shank diameter, with an overall length of 3-5/8 inches. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation make this a standard configuration for conventional milling operations. Centercutting capability allows for direct plunge entry without a pilot hole. Licensed machinists and toolroom operators typically use this style of end mill on manual mills and CNC machining centers.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling operations including slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. It performs well in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials where a high speed steel tool is appropriate. The regular-length classification and 1-1/2-inch length of cut place it in a common range for moderate-depth slot milling and shoulder milling in both job-shop and production environments. No coating is applied, keeping regrind costs straightforward and allowing easy visual inspection of the cutting edge condition.
Designed as a general-purpose square end mill for use in standard 5/8-inch collets, end mill holders, or milling chucks on vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using an appropriate end mill holder or collet sized to the 5/8-inch shank. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before mounting or removing the tool. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating the tool in the holder to confirm concentricity before cutting. Follow the machine manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and tool diameter.
