The HERTEL E1030934 is a square end mill ground from M7 high speed steel, designed for milling slots, shoulders, and peripheral profiles on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. It carries a 1.25-inch cutting diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut and a 0.875-inch straight shank, giving machinists a rigid setup in standard end mill holders or collet chucks. The two-flute spiral geometry runs at a 30-degree helix angle, promoting chip evacuation in slotting cuts. The tool is centercutting, so it can plunge directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled entry point. Finish is uncoated, keeping regrind and reconditioning straightforward.
This end mill is suited for manual mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers running at moderate speeds and feeds. The regular-length body fits standard bridgeport-style quills and CNC tool libraries without extended-reach adapters. It handles slotting, side milling, and profiling operations in general-purpose shop environments. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the industry-standard orientation for conventional milling setups. Machinists in job shops, maintenance departments, and production facilities reach for this geometry when a dependable, re-sharpenable HSS tool is preferred over coated carbide.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or stock end mill for any machine tool accepting a 0.875-inch straight shank, including knee mills, manual mills, and CNC machining centers with standard end mill holders or collet-type toolholding systems.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician familiar with end mill toolholding procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the holder and torque the set screw or collet nut per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before taking the first cut, as excessive runout accelerates premature tool wear.
