The HERTEL CAT83979K is a 6-flute cobalt square end mill engineered for demanding material removal in ferrous and high-temperature alloy applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, it delivers extended tool life and reduced heat buildup at the cutting edge. The 1.25-inch diameter runs a 4-inch length of cut with a matching 1.25-inch shank diameter, giving machinists a rigid setup for deep-cavity and long-reach work. Overall length is 6.5 inches. The 30-degree spiral helix promotes smooth chip evacuation, and the centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
