The HERTEL C.E14.0794 is an extra length cobalt drill bit designed for drilling through hard and tough materials where standard-length bits fall short. Built from cobalt high-speed steel, this bit maintains cutting edge integrity at elevated temperatures generated by harder workpiece materials. The 135-degree split-point tip reduces walking on contact, eliminating the need for a center punch in most applications. At 12 inches overall length with a 9-inch flute length, it reaches into deep holes and extended clearance situations that standard jobber-length bits cannot access. Two flutes provide chip evacuation throughout the cut. The bright, uncoated finish suits general-purpose drilling across a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This bit is suited for metalworking and fabrication environments where deep-hole drilling is required in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar hard materials. Typical applications include structural steel fabrication, HVAC sheet metal work involving thick gauge material, mechanical and piping support fabrication, and general industrial maintenance. The extra length makes it particularly useful when drilling through flanges, deep housings, or stacked material where a standard jobber bit lacks the reach. It is sold individually and is appropriate for use in drill presses, magnetic drills, and hand-held power drills with adequate chuck capacity.
Designed as a general-purpose extra length cobalt drill bit compatible with any drill press, magnetic drill, or hand-held power drill accepting a 5/16-inch straight shank.
This bit is intended for use by machinists, fabricators, and trade professionals familiar with metal-drilling operations. Secure the workpiece fully before drilling and use appropriate cutting fluid on hard or thick materials to extend tool life. Ensure the drill chuck is tightened properly and that the bit runs true before applying feed pressure. Follow applicable shop safety practices including eye protection and secure guarding when operating drill equipment.
