The HERTEL C.E11.2064 is an extra length twist drill bit designed for deep-hole drilling in metal and general-purpose materials. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, this bit measures 13/16 inch (0.8125 inch decimal) in diameter and delivers extended reach that standard-length bits cannot match. The 118-degree split or conventional point geometry is the industry-standard angle for general-purpose metalworking, providing reliable entry on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials. With a 12-inch flute length and an 18-inch overall length, it is well suited for applications where depth access is the primary constraint. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and fabricators reach for bits in this class when working through deep sections, structural steel, or plate that exceeds the capability of jobber-length tooling.
This bit is used in vertical mills, drill presses, and hand-held magnetic drills where extended reach is required. Typical applications include through-drilling structural members, HVAC ductwork framing, electrical conduit penetrations through thick substrates, and general fabrication work. The oxide finish provides light corrosion resistance and reduces friction during cutting. Its general-purpose grade makes it a practical stock item for shops and field crews handling a range of drilling tasks across multiple material types.
Designed as a general-purpose extra length drill bit compatible with standard drill press chucks, milling machine spindles, and magnetic drill systems accepting 13/16 inch shank tooling.
Extra length drill bits should be installed by qualified machinists or trained maintenance technicians familiar with metal-cutting operations. Secure the bit fully in the chuck and verify zero runout before beginning a cut, as the extended length increases deflection risk at higher feed rates. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the material being drilled, and reduce feed pressure compared to jobber-length bits to minimize bit walking and heat buildup. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling.
