The HERTEL C.E07.0326 is a cobalt aircraft extension drill bit engineered for deep-reach drilling applications where standard-length bits fall short. Built to a 12-inch overall length with a 1.625-inch spiral flute, it accepts a straight cylindrical shank with a 0.1285-inch diameter matching the No. 30 wire gauge designation. The 135-degree split point is self-centering and web-thinned, allowing it to start on a surface without walking and reduce thrust force on entry. A straw finish indicates the cobalt alloy has been heat-treated for improved hardness and wear resistance. Two right-hand spiral flutes evacuate chips efficiently during through-hole drilling. This bit meets NAS 907 standards and is suited for HVAC, avionics, and sheet metal fabrication work.
This bit is designed for drilling through hard materials including high-strength steel, stainless steel, titanium, and aluminum alloys in aerospace and industrial sheet metal applications. The extended 12-inch reach makes it particularly useful in confined spaces, panel work, and structural assemblies where conventional drill bits cannot access the work zone. HVAC technicians, sheet metal workers, and aircraft maintenance professionals use this type of bit when drilling through structural members, ductwork supports, or multilayer material stacks where penetration depth and bit rigidity are both critical.
Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit compatible with standard 3-jaw drill chucks and straight-shank collet holders accepting a 0.1285-inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists, sheet metal mechanics, or maintenance technicians familiar with rotary cutting tools. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and verify chuck grip on the full cylindrical shank. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubrication when drilling ferrous or hard alloy materials to extend bit life and manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and do not force a dull or damaged bit.
