The HERTEL C.E07.0278 is a cobalt aircraft extension drill bit engineered for deep-reach drilling applications where standard-length bits cannot access the work area. Built from cobalt steel with a straw finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point that is self-centering and requires no center punch on most materials. The web-thinned, tapered web construction reduces thrust during entry and improves chip evacuation. At 12 inches overall length with a 1.5-inch spiral flute, it is well suited for structural and sheet metal drilling in aerospace, aviation maintenance, and heavy fabrication environments. Meets NAS 907 standards.
This aircraft extension drill bit is intended for use in aerospace maintenance, aircraft assembly, and structural fabrication where extended reach is required to access recessed or deep drilled locations. The 7/64-inch diameter and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks. Right-hand cutting direction and two-flute spiral geometry support clean through-hole drilling in aluminum, mild steel, stainless, and other metals common to aircraft and industrial applications. General-purpose tool performance rating makes it a versatile choice across a range of base materials.
Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit compatible with standard straight-cylindrical shank drill chucks used in aerospace maintenance, aviation assembly, and industrial fabrication applications.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by qualified machinists, aviation maintenance technicians, or trained fabricators familiar with drilling operations on metal substrates. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and confirm chuck grip is tight on the straight cylindrical shank before operation. Reduce feed rate when breaking through material to prevent bit walking or workpiece damage. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and any relevant aviation maintenance manual requirements for the specific aircraft or structure being worked.
