The HERTEL C.E06.0635 is a cobalt aircraft extension drill bit designed for drilling in hard and tough materials where standard-length bits cannot reach. Built to a 135-degree split point with web thinning, it self-centers on contact and reduces the need for a pilot hole. The straw finish indicates heat-treated cobalt steel construction, rated for general-purpose drilling in steel, stainless, cast iron, and high-strength alloys. At 6 inches overall length with a 2.75-inch spiral flute, this bit is suited for aerospace-style and deep-clearance drilling applications. It is sized at Letter E, equivalent to 0.2500 inches, with a straight cylindrical shank of the same diameter.
This bit is used in applications where extended reach is required, such as airframe work, structural steel fabrication, and industrial maintenance. The cobalt construction makes it appropriate for drilling harder metals that would prematurely wear high-speed steel tooling. It is commonly installed in standard drill chucks, pneumatic drills, and drill presses used by machinists, aerospace technicians, and industrial maintenance mechanics. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional drilling setups.
Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit conforming to NAS 907, compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks accepting a 0.2500-inch shank diameter.
This bit is intended for use by machinists, aerospace technicians, and industrial maintenance mechanics using standard drill presses, hand drills, or pneumatic drilling equipment. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key is removed prior to startup. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling hardened or stainless steel to extend tool life and manage heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges for wear before each use, as cobalt bits subjected to excessive heat can develop micro-fractures that affect accuracy and safety.
