The HERTEL C.E05.0326 is a No. 30 wire gauge aircraft extension drill bit designed for deep-reach drilling in aerospace, structural, and general metalworking applications. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, it features a 135-degree split point that is self-centering and web-thinned for reduced thrust and cleaner entry without a center punch. At 12 inches overall length, the extended reach makes it well-suited for accessing recessed or obstructed hole locations where a standard-length bit cannot reach. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.1285 inches in diameter, matching the No. 30 decimal equivalent.
This bit is used in applications where extended reach is required — including aircraft skin drilling, structural steel, aluminum, and general-purpose shop work on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 1.625-inch spiral flute with right-hand cutting direction provides efficient chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole operations. It meets NAS 907 standards, making it appropriate for aerospace maintenance and repair environments. Machinists, aircraft mechanics, and metal fabricators working in MRO, production, or field repair settings will find this bit suitable for a range of drilling tasks.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks accepting a 0.1285-inch diameter shank, suitable for use in handheld drills, drill presses, and pneumatic drill motors.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by qualified machinists, aircraft mechanics, or metal fabricators following applicable shop safety and aerospace maintenance procedures. Secure the straight cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized chuck before drilling to prevent slippage. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and maintain hole quality. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace if the point geometry is compromised.
