The HERTEL C.E03.0556 is an aircraft extension drill bit designed for deep-reach drilling applications in metal, sheet stock, and structural materials. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, it measures 7/32 inch (0.2188 inch decimal) in diameter and delivers a 135-degree split point for self-centering entry without a center punch. The 6-inch overall length and 2.5-inch spiral flute make it well suited for accessing recessed or obstructed bore locations common in aviation, HVAC fabrication, and sheet metal work. Right-hand cutting direction and a web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduce thrust and improve chip evacuation on production runs.
This bit is a general-purpose tool used across aviation maintenance, HVAC ductwork, plumbing rough-in, and electrical trade work wherever standard-length bits cannot reach the bore location. The extended body clears obstructions such as framing members, flanges, and panel brackets. It is equally at home in a handheld drill or a drill press. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard three-jaw chucks, making it compatible with common corded and cordless drills used in the field.
Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit for use in standard three-jaw chucks on corded drills, cordless drills, and drill presses requiring a 7/32 inch straight shank bit.
Install and remove drill bits only when the drill is powered off and the chuck is fully released. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent walking or grab. Wear appropriate eye protection per applicable shop safety standards. For production drilling in hard stock, use a cutting fluid to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup.
