The HERTEL C.E03.0380 is a No. 25 wire-size aircraft extension drill bit designed for deep-reach drilling in aerospace and industrial applications. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, it features a 135-degree split point that is self-centering and reduces walking on entry. The two-flute spiral geometry with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces thrust during drilling. At 6 inches overall length with a 1.875-inch flute length, this bit reaches into recessed areas that standard-length bits cannot access. It is suited for general-purpose drilling in metals and composite materials common to airframe and structural assembly work.
This aircraft extension bit is intended for use in production drilling, maintenance, and repair operations where extended reach is required. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks without adapters. Right-hand cutting direction and the 0.1495-inch decimal diameter correspond to the No. 25 wire gauge size, making it a direct fit for applications requiring precise hole sizing to NAS 907 standards. It is commonly used by aviation maintenance technicians, aerospace assemblers, and industrial machinists working on structural panels, sheet metal stacks, and deep-hole applications.
Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit conforming to NAS 907 standards, suitable for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.1495-inch straight cylindrical shank.
This bit is installed by machinists, aviation maintenance technicians, and industrial drill press operators using standard drill chucks or pneumatic drill motors. Ensure the drill is fully de-energized and secured in the chuck before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the material being drilled to extend bit life and maintain hole quality. Do not exceed the recommended feed rate for the material; excessive force can cause bit breakage in extension-length tooling.
