The HERTEL C.E03.0279 is a No. 35 aircraft extension drill bit designed for deep-reach drilling in metal fabrication, aerospace maintenance, and structural repair work. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point that self-centers on contact, reducing the need for a center punch and minimizing walking on curved or hard surfaces. The tapered web configuration and web-thinned geometry reduce cutting resistance and heat buildup. With a 6-inch overall length and a 1.5-inch spiral flute, it provides extended reach in confined or deep-access drilling scenarios. Licensed and dimensioned trades professionals use it for airframe, structural steel, and general fabrication applications.
This aircraft extension bit is suited for production drilling and field maintenance tasks where standard-length bits cannot reach. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks without adapters. Right-hand cutting direction and two-flute spiral geometry promote efficient chip evacuation in through-hole drilling on sheet metal, tubing, and structural members. It meets NAS 907 standards, making it appropriate for aerospace and aviation maintenance environments alongside general industrial use.
Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks used in hand drills, right-angle drills, and drill presses common to aerospace maintenance and metal fabrication work.
Installation is performed by machinists, aviation maintenance technicians, and metalworkers using standard chuck equipment. Secure the straight cylindrical shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout before drilling production holes. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece to prevent rotation. Lubricate with cutting fluid when drilling harder alloys to maintain edge life and reduce heat.
