The HERTEL C.E03.0185 is an aircraft extension drill bit designed for precision drilling in tight or deep-access applications. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, it carries a No. 49 wire gauge size corresponding to 0.073 inches in diameter. The 135-degree split point is self-centering and web-thinned, reducing walking on entry and lowering the thrust force needed to start a hole. With a 6-inch overall length and a 1-inch spiral flute, this bit is suited for production drilling and aerospace-style work where standard-length bits cannot reach. Right-hand cutting direction and a straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks.
This bit is intended for general-purpose drilling in metal, composite, and similar materials common in aerospace, aviation maintenance, and precision fabrication environments. The extended length allows drilling through structural assemblies, bulkheads, and deep cavities without repositioning the workpiece. It meets NAS 907 standards, making it appropriate for aviation MRO shops, machine shops, and maintenance facilities that work to aerospace tolerances. Both professional machinists and skilled trade technicians performing structural or mechanical work will find this bit a practical addition to their tooling.
Designed as a general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit for use in standard drill chucks accepting a 0.073-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for aerospace MRO, fabrication, and precision metalworking applications conforming to NAS 907.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with drilling procedures for the material being worked. Secure the workpiece fully before drilling and ensure the drill chuck is properly tightened on the straight shank before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to preserve tip geometry and extend service life. Inspect the bit for wear or chipping before each use, as a damaged split point will compromise hole quality and self-centering performance.
