The HERTEL C.E02.0102 is a #60 wire-size aircraft extension drill bit engineered for deep-reach drilling applications where a standard-length bit cannot access the work area. Built from high-speed steel with an oxide finish, this bit features a 135-degree split point and a right-hand spiral flute. It measures 6 inches overall with an 11/16-inch flute length and a straight cylindrical shank diameter of 0.0400 inches. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. It meets NAS 907 standards and is suited for general-purpose metal drilling in aerospace and industrial environments.
This bit is designed for use in tight or recessed areas where extended reach is required, such as airframe assembly, structural metalwork, and precision sheet-metal fabrication. The #60 size (0.0400 inches decimal equivalent) is commonly used for pilot holes, rivet preparation, and small-diameter through-holes. Licensed aircraft mechanics, aviation maintenance technicians, and industrial machinists are the primary installers. The single-piece packaging makes it suitable for both bench-stock replenishment and individual job use.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose aircraft extension drill bit compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks accepting a 0.0400-inch shank diameter.
This bit is installed and operated by licensed aircraft mechanics, machinists, or qualified industrial technicians using appropriate drill presses or pneumatic and electric hand drills with a chuck sized for the 0.0400-inch straight cylindrical shank. Secure the workpiece fully before drilling and verify the chuck is tightened to prevent bit slippage. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and any relevant aerospace maintenance manual (AMM) guidance for hole preparation. Do not use at feed rates or speeds exceeding the manufacturer recommendations for the material being drilled.
