The HERTEL 96154 is a welded bi-metal band saw blade designed for metal-cutting applications on horizontal and vertical band saw machines. The blade runs 10 feet 10 inches in total length and 1 inch wide, with a variable-pitch tooth pattern ranging from 6 to 10 teeth per inch. The cutting teeth are made from M42 high speed steel, a cobalt-enhanced alloy that maintains edge hardness under the heat generated by ferrous and non-ferrous metal cutting. The straight tooth form and variable pitch work together to reduce vibration and harmonic chatter during the cut. This blade is suited for production shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication operations where consistent, repeatable cuts on metal stock are required.
This blade is intended for metal-cutting band saws with a wheel-to-wheel or blade path length that accepts a 10-foot 10-inch loop. The 6-10 variable pitch makes it effective across a range of material cross-sections, from thin-wall tubing to solid bar stock. It is a practical choice for shops cutting structural steel, alloy steels, stainless, and similar ferrous metals. The M42 bi-metal construction extends blade life compared to standard carbon-steel blades in demanding, high-volume cutting environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement band saw blade for metal-cutting band saws that accept a 1-inch wide blade with a 10-foot 10-inch loop length and 0.035-inch blade thickness.
Band saw blade installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician with the machine fully de-energized and locked out per OSHA lockout-tagout procedures before blade changes begin. Verify wheel diameter, blade guides, and blade tensioner specifications on the machine against the blade dimensions before mounting. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling the coiled or uncoiled blade, as the teeth present a laceration hazard. After installation, run the blade unloaded for a short break-in period at reduced feed pressure before returning to full production cutting.
