The HERTEL 91192658 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiAlN, it delivers elevated heat and wear resistance during high-feed roughing passes. The 3/4 inch diameter cutter features 4 flutes with a coarse pitch geometry, which breaks chips efficiently and reduces cutting forces compared to standard end mills. The 1.625 inch length of cut and 3.75 inch overall length make it well-suited for moderate-depth pocketing, slotting, and profiling. It is center-cutting and runs right-hand with right-hand flute direction. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops, production machining, or maintenance environments are the primary users.
This roughing end mill is used in vertical and horizontal milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills. Its coarse pitch design makes it appropriate for roughing passes in steel, stainless, cast iron, and other ferrous materials where TiAlN coatings and M42 cobalt substrate offer a performance advantage. The 3/4 inch shank diameter matches standard R8, ER collet, and side-lock toolholders common in shop environments. It is a single-end tool, meaning once the cutting end is worn, the tool is replaced rather than flipped.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement-style roughing end mill for any milling machine or machining center accepting a 3/4 inch straight shank, including R8 collet chucks, ER collet systems, and Weldon-style side-lock holders.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tool-crib technician familiar with toolholder torque and runout requirements. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill. Clean the shank and toolholder bore before seating the tool to avoid runout caused by chips or debris. Do not exceed the recommended depth-of-cut for the material being machined, as roughing end mills are designed for high material removal with adequate chip clearance rather than finish passes.
