The HERTEL 91192229 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials with a coarse-pitch flute geometry that breaks chips and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. The 3-flute configuration provides a balance of chip evacuation and cutting stability, making it well suited for heavy slotting, profiling, and roughing passes. The bright, uncoated finish retains a sharp edge and works without added coating cost. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional vertical and horizontal milling setups. This end mill is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians.
This end mill is used in production machining, tool and die, and general-purpose machine shop environments. The 3/4-inch diameter and 3-inch length of cut make it a practical choice for medium-depth roughing passes on steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials where cobalt tooling outperforms standard HSS. It is suitable for manual knee mills, CNC vertical machining centers, and horizontal mills running moderate to heavy material removal rates. The single-end design is standard for replaceable tooling in high-volume shop settings.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement-style roughing end mill for 3/4-inch straight-shank tool holders, collet chucks, and end mill holders used in standard vertical and horizontal milling machines.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Secure the shank fully into a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware per the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the collet and holder bore for wear or runout before use, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces tool life. Always disengage spindle power and bring the machine to a complete stop before changing or adjusting tooling.
