The HERTEL 8852074 is a ceramic uncoated turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the CNGA643T00825 style designation with an HT601CA ceramic grade, this insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a negative rake angle and neutral hand orientation. The inscribed circle measures 0.75 inches and the insert length is 0.748 inches. With a corner radius of 0.0469 inches (3/64 inch) and a relief angle of zero degrees, this insert is suited for high-speed finishing and semi-finishing passes on hard materials where ceramic tooling provides a thermal and wear advantage over carbide.
This insert is used in external turning, facing, and profiling applications in production machining environments. It is appropriate for machining hardened steels, cast irons, and high-temperature alloys where ceramic cutting materials outperform conventional carbide at elevated surface speeds. The CNGA insert style is a standard configuration commonly found in both high-volume production shops and precision job shops. The neutral hand allows use in either left-hand or right-hand toolholder setups depending on the application. The HT601CA grade is a ceramic formulation suited to dry or minimal-coolant cutting conditions.

Installation and indexing of turning inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per applicable safety procedures. Use the correct torque driver for the clamping screw to ensure proper seating without cracking the ceramic insert body. Ceramic inserts are brittle and should not be subjected to interrupted cuts, heavy shock loads, or coolant thermal shock unless the grade is rated for those conditions. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating each new insert.
