The HERTEL 8852033 is a CNMG432BH HT115CR cermet turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. This uncoated cermet insert features an 80-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code C), a neutral hand orientation, and a positive rake angle of 15 degrees with a chip breaker designation of G. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, the insert length is 0.4724 inches (12 mm), and the corner radius is 0.0312 inches (1/32 inch). It is held in place using a clamp and pin method and carries a Clearance Code N with Tolerance Code M.
This insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous materials where cermet grades excel at maintaining sharp edges and tight tolerances at moderate to high cutting speeds. The uncoated cermet substrate offers low chemical affinity to workpiece materials, making it a practical choice for achieving fine surface finishes in high-volume production turning environments. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians typically select this insert for applications where built-up edge and workpiece adhesion are concerns.
Designed for use in standard CNMG-style turning toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch inscribed circle insert with a 3/16-inch insert thickness and a 0.203-inch hole diameter. Verify toolholder pocket tolerance and clamping configuration before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician with the machine powered down and spindle locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamp pin. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear, debris, or damage before seating a new insert. Always confirm insert orientation and hand designation match the toolholder before resuming cutting operations.
