The HERTEL 8850566 is an uncoated ceramic turning insert in the TNGA style, designed for high-speed metal cutting and finish turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries the HT601CA manufacturer grade and features a 60-degree triangular geometry with a neutral hand orientation. Key specs include a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 0.0312 inch corner radius, and a 0.8660 inch insert length. The negative rake and zero-degree relief angle make this insert well-suited for hardened materials and high-temperature alloys where ceramic tooling outperforms carbide. Clamping and pin-style holding keeps it secure under interrupted and continuous cuts.
This insert fits standard TNGA toolholders used in precision turning applications across aerospace, automotive, and general machining environments. The TNGA432 size code and T00825 chip breaker designation are compatible with toolholder pockets specified for that insert size. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes on hard ferrous materials where an uncoated ceramic grade provides thermal stability and edge retention. Licensed machinists and CNC operators performing precision turning work are the primary installers of this insert type.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for standard TNGA-style toolholders accepting a size 432 insert with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and 3/16 inch thickness.
Ceramic turning inserts should be seated and indexed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping procedure. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing any insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for chips or wear before installing a new insert. Ceramic inserts are brittle compared to carbide and should not be used for heavy interrupted cuts unless the grade is specifically rated for that application.
