The HERTEL 84581198 is a No. 45 wire-gauge jobber-length drill bit engineered for heavy-duty holemaking in metal and similar materials. Built from high speed steel with an oxide coating, it runs a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and decreases feed pressure at the start of a cut. The overall length is 2.125 inches with a 1.125-inch spiral flute, and the decimal inch diameter is 0.0820 inches. The straight-cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard drill chucks and collet holders. Right-hand cutting with a regular spiral and two flutes provides efficient chip evacuation in typical drilling operations. The web-thinned, tapered web configuration reduces thrust on thinner workpieces and helps extend tool life.
This bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling tasks encountered by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working with metal substrates. The No. 45 wire size fits within the 0.0500 to 0.1000 decimal inch range, making it appropriate for small-diameter through-holes, pilot holes, and clearance holes in fabrication and repair work. It conforms to NAS specification designation standards, which aligns with industrial tooling requirements across aerospace, HVAC, and general metalworking applications. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 12 units per order.
Designed as an OEM-style jobber-length drill bit for use in any standard drill press, hand drill, or CNC drilling setup accepting a 0.0820-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with rotary cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and confirm runout is within acceptable limits. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines for speeds and feeds based on workpiece material.
