The HERTEL 84512813 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiAlN for elevated heat resistance, this tool handles tough ferrous and exotic alloy cuts at higher speeds than standard HSS. It measures 1.25 inches in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and a 4.5-inch overall length. Six fine-pitch flutes produce a shearing action that breaks chips efficiently and reduces chatter on deep passes. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC and manual milling setups. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for roughing passes on ferrous metals, stainless, and high-temperature alloys in both production shop and job-shop environments. The TiAlN coating supports dry or minimal-coolant cutting by reflecting heat away from the cutting edge. The 1.25-inch shank diameter matches the 1.25-inch cutter diameter, making it a straight-shank tool that seats directly in a matching end mill holder or collet chuck. Fine-pitch flute geometry keeps chip load per tooth manageable on harder materials while maintaining a high metal-removal rate per pass.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-specification end mill for CNC machining centers and manual knee mills accepting a 1.25-inch straight-shank end mill holder or collet chuck.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the end mill from its holder. Secure the shank with the appropriate torque on the set screw or collet nut per the holder manufacturer's specification. Because this tool is not center-cutting, plunge entry into solid material is not permitted — use a ramping, helical, or pre-drilled entry path to begin the cut.
