The HERTEL 84213842 is a single-end roughing end mill engineered for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool handles tough ferrous and stainless alloys where standard HSS cutters lose edge integrity. The 3-flute coarse-pitch geometry breaks chips efficiently, reducing heat buildup and cutting forces during heavy passes. A titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating adds surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life in abrasive materials. With a 3/16 inch cutting diameter and 1/2 inch length of cut, it is sized for slotting, profiling, and pocketing in confined areas. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC mills and knee mills will find it a reliable workhorse for roughing passes.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations in ferrous metals, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys in both job-shop and production environments. The 3/8 inch shank diameter accommodates standard collet chucks and end mill holders commonly found on vertical and horizontal milling machines. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with conventional right-hand spindle setups. The non-centercutting design means it is intended for side milling, ramping with a pre-drilled entry, or use in applications where plunge entry is not required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement roughing end mill for use in standard right-hand spindle milling machines accepting a 3/8 inch shank.
This end mill is installed and serviced by machinists and tooling technicians. Before changing tooling, confirm the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out per shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention nut according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Because this is a non-centercutting tool, do not use it for direct plunge entry into solid material without a pre-drilled or pre-milled starting point.
