The HERTEL 83247163 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining applications. With a 12.5 mm (0.4921 inch) reamer diameter and a diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0003 inches, this tool delivers tight, repeatable bore accuracy. The bright, uncoated solid carbide construction offers rigidity and wear resistance suited to demanding material removal in production and job-shop environments. At 4 inches overall length with a 1.5-inch flute length and six straight flutes, this reamer is sized for through-hole and blind-hole finishing in a machine tool setup. It is installed and operated by machinists, tool and die technicians, and precision machining professionals.
This chucking reamer is used in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills or lathes where controlled hole tolerances are required. The straight-cylindrical shank interfaces directly with a drill chuck or collet holder. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with standard spindle rotation. Typical applications include finishing bored or drilled holes to close tolerance in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. The straight flute geometry is well suited to short-chipping materials and through-holes where chip evacuation is straightforward.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill chucks or collet holders on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes and mills where a straight-cylindrical shank is accepted.
Chucking reamers are installed by machinists and tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the tool from the chuck or collet. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the holding device is torqued to the machine manufacturer's specification. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to maintain tolerance and surface finish, and never reverse spindle rotation while the reamer is engaged in a bore.
