The HERTEL 83246157 is a straight-flute drill bit ground from solid carbide and intended for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It carries a wire gauge size of No. 52, which corresponds to a decimal diameter of 0.0635 inches, held to a tight tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0005 inches. The 140-degree notched point geometry and web-thinned construction reduce thrust force at entry, supporting accurate hole placement in hard and difficult-to-machine materials. With a bright, uncoated finish and C2 carbide grade, this bit is suited for shops and field machinists who need reliable performance without a coated tool premium.
This drill bit is designed for use in ferrous and specialty alloy materials including steel, stainless steel, heat-treated alloy steel, chrome alloy, nickel alloy, and titanium alloy. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held drill motors turning in conventional forward rotation. The straight-flute configuration is particularly effective in short-chipping materials where chip evacuation along spiral flutes is unnecessary. Coolant-through capability is not supported on this tool.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide drill for applications requiring a No. 52 wire gauge hole in ferrous and specialty alloy workpieces on standard drill press or CNC spindle setups.
This tool should be installed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with carbide drill handling. Secure the shank firmly in a collet or chuck rated for the 0.0635-inch diameter to prevent runout, which is particularly damaging to small-diameter carbide tools. Ensure the machine spindle is at a full stop before changing or inspecting the bit. Avoid side loading or flexing the tool during use, as solid carbide is rigid but brittle and will fracture under lateral stress.
