The HERTEL 83246074 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in small-diameter applications. Sized to wire gauge number 71 with a decimal diameter of 0.0260 inches, this bit delivers consistent, tight-tolerance holes in hard materials where high-speed steel falls short. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned tip reduce thrust and improve centering on entry. At 1.0 inch overall length with a 0.3125-inch flute length, it is built for confined-space drilling in metal fabrication, electronics assembly, and instrument manufacturing. Carbide construction at material grade C2 provides rigidity and wear resistance in demanding production environments.
This bit is suited for drilling small, precise holes in ferrous metals, non-ferrous alloys, plastics, and composite materials. It is commonly used in production machining, toolroom work, and precision assembly operations where wire-gauge drill sizes are required. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks used on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision hand-held equipment. The bright (uncoated) finish is appropriate for general-purpose drilling where specialized coatings are not required. Machinists, toolmakers, and precision fabricators are the primary users of this size class.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber-length drill bit for use in any standard drill chuck or collet that accepts a 0.0260-inch straight-cylindrical shank, including CNC machining centers and bench drill presses.
Installation of this bit is performed by machinists or toolmakers in machine shop and production environments. Secure the straight shank fully in a properly sized drill chuck or collet before operating. Ensure spindle runout is minimized when working at this diameter, as small carbide bits are brittle and susceptible to breakage from lateral loading. Power down and lock out the machine before changing bits.
