The HERTEL 79892451 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit ground to a No. 2 wire gauge size, equivalent to 0.2210 inches in decimal diameter. It carries a standard 118-degree split point with web thinning for faster penetration and reduced thrust. The bright (uncoated) finish keeps the carbide substrate exposed for applications where coating buildup or heat sensitivity is a concern. At 3 inches overall length with a 1.75-inch spiral flute, it fits standard drill chucks via its straight-cylindrical shank. Machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals use this bit in CNC and manual drilling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This bit is suited for precision drilling in job-shop, production machining, and MRO environments. The C2 carbide grade handles general-purpose metal drilling at elevated spindle speeds where high-speed steel bits would lose edge integrity. The regular-spiral, two-flute design clears chips efficiently in through-hole and blind-hole applications. Coolant-through capability is not included, so conventional flood or mist coolant applied externally is the standard approach for heat management in continuous cutting cycles.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit option for any drill press, CNC machining center, or hand drill equipped with a chuck accepting a 0.2210-inch straight-cylindrical shank and requiring a No. 2 wire-gauge diameter hole.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Power down and lock out the machine before loading or removing the bit from the chuck. Verify chuck capacity matches the 0.2210-inch shank diameter and that the bit is seated fully and tightened to the chuck manufacturer's specification before beginning any drilling cycle. Apply appropriate external coolant or cutting fluid when drilling steel or other ferrous materials to prevent thermal damage to the carbide substrate.
