The HERTEL 79892295 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge No. 15, with a decimal diameter of 0.1800 inches. Built from C2-grade solid carbide, the bit delivers the hardness and wear resistance needed for demanding production and precision drilling applications. It features a standard 118-degree point angle with web thinning and a tapered web configuration that reduces thrust and improves centering at the start of a cut. The bright finish leaves the carbide surface uncoated, which suits applications where coating adhesion or contamination is a concern. Overall length is 2.75 inches with a 1.625-inch flute length.
This bit is suited for use in machine shop, toolroom, and production environments where tight-tolerance holes are required in metals, composites, or plastics. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard drill chucks, collets, or drill press spindles without adapters. Its regular spiral, two-flute design efficiently evacuates chips during through-hole and blind-hole drilling. The high-performance grade designation makes it appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual turret lathes where consistent dimensional accuracy is expected.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard addition for any setup accepting a 0.1800-inch straight-cylindrical shank jobber drill bit, including standard drill chucks, ER collet systems, and keyless chuck spindles.
Installation and use of this bit should be performed by machinists or qualified trades personnel following safe machine-tool practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits before drilling, as excess runout accelerates carbide bit wear and can cause breakage. Carbide bits are brittle — avoid lateral loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed and speed parameters, and dropping the bit on hard surfaces.
