The HERTEL 79892089 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding materials. Ground to a 118-degree standard point angle with web thinning, it produces clean entry holes and reduces thrust in hard metals, plastics, and composites. The bright (uncoated) finish suits applications where coating adhesion or contamination is a concern. At 2.25 inches overall length with a 1.25-inch flute length, this bit fits standard jobber-length chucks and drill presses. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.1160 inches diameter matches the wire size 32 decimal equivalent. Material grade C2 carbide provides the hardness and wear resistance expected in a high-performance classification.
This bit is suited for machine shop, toolroom, and production drilling operations where tight-tolerance hole quality is required. It is appropriate for CNC drilling centers, bench drill presses, and rigid hand-held power tools. The right-hand spiral flute with regular spiral geometry evacuates chips efficiently in through-hole and blind-hole operations. It is typically used by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and precision fabricators working in aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking environments. Coolant-through is not supported, so conventional flood or mist coolant application at the cutting zone is standard practice.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use jobber drill bit for machine tools and drill presses accepting straight-cylindrical shank tooling at 0.1160 inches shank diameter, consistent with wire size 32 tooling standards.
This bit is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in standard drill chucks or collet holders accepting straight-cylindrical shanks. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank firmly in the chuck to the full grip depth to prevent pullout under cutting load. At small diameters, avoid side loading or angled entry, which can cause bit fracture in solid carbide tooling.
