The HERTEL 79891933 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge No. 44 (0.0860 inch decimal equivalent) with a 118-degree standard point angle. Built from C2-grade solid carbide with a bright finish, this bit delivers consistent hole quality in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites. The web-thinned, tapered-web geometry reduces thrust at entry and improves chip evacuation. At 2 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute length, it fits standard drill chucks and CNC collet holders without adapter sleeves. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die techs, and precision sheet-metal workers are the primary installers of this type of tooling.
This bit is suited for light precision drilling operations where tight hole tolerances are required. The diameter tolerance of -0.0005 to 0.0000 inch makes it appropriate for close-fit fastener holes, dowel pin locations, and instrument-body drilling. It handles typical production environments in job shops, aerospace fabrication, and electronics assembly where small-diameter, high-accuracy bores are common. Coolant-through capability is not present, so it is best used with external coolant or dry in appropriate materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide jobber drill bit for any standard drill press, CNC machining center, or hand drill accepting a 0.0860-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation of small-diameter carbide drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a collet or drill chuck to the recommended grip depth before operation to prevent runout and bit breakage. Carbide is brittle — avoid side-loading or interrupted cuts without appropriate feed-rate adjustments. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use; a chipped carbide bit should be replaced, not reground in the field without proper equipment.
