The HERTEL 79891909 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precision drilling in hard and abrasive materials. Built to a No. 46 wire gauge size (0.0810 inches diameter), it features a 118-degree standard drill point and a regular spiral flute with web thinning for improved chip evacuation and reduced thrust at entry. The bright finish leaves the carbide substrate exposed for heat visibility during use. Right-hand cutting geometry and a straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks. At 1.75 inches overall length with a 0.875-inch flute length, this bit is suited for close-tolerance work in tight access areas.
This bit is intended for use in machining, metalworking, and precision fabrication environments where hole diameter tolerance is critical. The diameter tolerance of -0.0005 to 0.0000 inches supports tight-fit applications such as reaming prep holes, close-tolerance through-holes, and pilot drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It is commonly used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and precision fabricators working with CNC drill presses, manual drill presses, or handheld pneumatic tools where carbide rigidity outperforms high-speed steel.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use jobber length drill bit for standard drill chucks accepting a 0.0810-inch straight-cylindrical shank in machining and precision drilling applications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tool technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in the drill chuck and verify runout before drilling, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral loading. Always power down the drill press or CNC spindle and lock out the machine before changing bits. Do not use carbide bits in hammer-drill or percussion mode, as impact loading will fracture the carbide substrate.
