The HERTEL 79891065 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to produce precise, finished bores in metalworking applications. It cuts in the right-hand direction with six straight flutes and features a straight cylindrical shank for secure chuck mounting. The reamer diameter is 0.2720 inches, falling within the Letter I size range, and holds a tight diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0003 inches. Overall length is 3.25 inches with a flute length of 1.125 inches. The bright, uncoated carbide construction makes it well suited for demanding hole-finishing operations where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical.
This chucking reamer is used in machine shop and production environments where pre-drilled or bored holes must be brought to a precise finished diameter. Typical applications include reaming holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. It is intended for use in drill presses, lathes, CNC machining centers, and manual milling machines equipped with a standard chuck. The straight flute geometry is particularly effective in through-hole applications and softer materials where chip evacuation is straightforward.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks, collet chucks, or floating holders on drill presses, lathes, and machining centers that accept straight-shank tooling in the applicable diameter range.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists following standard machine tool setup procedures. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Ensure the shank is fully seated and securely clamped in the chuck or collet before starting the spindle. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to maximize tool life and hole finish quality, and feed at a rate consistent with carbide tooling recommendations for the material being reamed.
