The HERTEL 79890752 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to produce precise, finished holes in metalworking applications. Built to a wire gauge size of 40 with a decimal diameter of 0.0980 inches, this reamer delivers a tight tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches over nominal, making it suitable where close-fit bore accuracy is required. The straight flute geometry and bright, uncoated carbide construction support clean cutting in a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. At 2.25 inches overall length with a 0.625-inch flute length, it is sized for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual machine tools with a standard chuck or collet setup.
This chucking reamer is used in machine shops, production environments, and maintenance operations where wire-size holes must be finished to tight dimensional tolerances. The straight cylindrical shank allows direct mounting in a standard chuck or precision collet holder. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with conventional spindle rotation. Typical applications include reaming pre-drilled pilot holes in steel, aluminum, brass, and similar machinable materials where bore finish and size accuracy are critical to fit-up of pins, bearings, or fasteners.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual machine tools equipped with a chuck or collet capable of accepting a straight cylindrical shank at wire gauge size 40.
Installation and operation of chucking reamers should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with cutting tool setup and machine operation. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before mounting or removing the tool from the chuck or collet. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve bore finish. Do not use a chucking reamer as a substitute for a drill to remove excess material; always pre-drill to the correct pilot diameter before reaming.
