The HERTEL 79890455 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining operations. Ground to a wire gauge No. 6 diameter of 0.2040 inches with a tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches, this reamer delivers tight, repeatable bore sizing. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction suit through-hole and lightly interrupted bore applications. At 3.0 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute length and straight-cylindrical shank, it mounts directly in standard drill chucks or collet holders on lathes, drill presses, and machining centers. Solid carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Supplied bright, uncoated, and ready to use out of the box.
This reamer is suited for production and toolroom environments where hole tolerance and surface finish matter. Typical applications include finishing drilled or bored holes to No. 6 wire gauge dimensions in steel, aluminum, brass, and similar materials. The compact 3.0-inch OAL makes it well suited for short-reach setups on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and drill presses. Machinists and tool-and-die tradespeople working to close-tolerance prints will find the 0.0000 to 0.0002-inch diameter tolerance useful for fit-critical assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks and collet-style toolholders on lathes, drill presses, and CNC machining centers accepting a straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this reamer is typically performed by machinists or tool-and-die tradespeople. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is securely tightened before engaging the workpiece. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and achieve optimal surface finish. Follow standard shop safety practices and applicable OSHA guidelines when operating rotating cutting tools.
