The HERTEL 79890380 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machine tool applications. With a 9/16 inch (0.5625 inch) diameter and a 4 inch overall length, this reamer delivers tight dimensional accuracy in production and job-shop environments. The straight flute geometry suits most through-hole and blind-hole reaming operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The straight cylindrical shank allows direct mounting in standard drill chucks, collets, or reamer holders on lathes, mills, and drill presses. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this reamer where consistent bore sizing and finish quality are required.
This chucking reamer is suited for production machining, tool and die work, and maintenance machining where precise hole tolerances must be held after drilling. The 1-1/2 inch flute length accommodates typical stock removal depths for this diameter range. Straight flute design makes it well-suited for general-purpose reaming in materials that do not require the chip-lifting action of a spiral flute. It is intended for use in machine-driven applications, not hand reaming.
Designed as a machine-driven chucking reamer for use in lathes, vertical mills, drill presses, and CNC machining centers equipped with standard drill chucks or collet systems accepting a straight cylindrical shank at this diameter.
This reamer is intended for machine use only — do not use as a hand reamer. Secure the straight shank firmly in a properly sized chuck or collet to minimize runout before cutting. Always pre-drill the hole to the appropriate undersize before reaming, and apply cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to maximize tool life and finish quality. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as carbide tooling can fracture if operated with damaged edges or excessive feed rates.
