The HERTEL 79890364 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining applications. With a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) cutting diameter and a tight tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0003 inches over nominal, this reamer delivers accurate, repeatable bore sizing in production and maintenance environments. The straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly in standard drill chucks or collet holders. At 4 inches overall length with a 1-3/8 inch flute length, it suits typical through-hole and shallow blind-hole finishing operations. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for carbide reamers used across a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users.
This reamer is used in CNC machining centers, manual lathes, drill presses, and hand-held pneumatic or electric drilling equipment where a straight-cylindrical shank is appropriate. It is suited for finishing pre-drilled or bored holes to close tolerance in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional clockwise spindle rotation. The 6-flute configuration produces a smooth bore surface finish and distributes cutting load evenly, reducing chatter in moderate to high feed rate applications common in production shops and field maintenance work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application chucking reamer for use in standard straight-shank toolholders, drill chucks, and collets accepting a 7/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation and use of this reamer should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain bore finish quality. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for solid carbide reamers in the material being machined, and never reverse spindle direction during a cut.
