The HERTEL 79890349 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machining applications. Built with a straight flute geometry and a straight cylindrical shank, this reamer delivers controlled material removal and tight dimensional accuracy. It holds a reamer diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0003 inches, making it suitable for applications where bore size and surface finish are critical. The bright, uncoated solid carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance in a compact tool that machinists and toolroom professionals install in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes.
This chucking reamer is used for finish reaming through-holes and blind holes in metal workpieces where close tolerances are required. The 3/8 inch diameter and 1-1/4 inch flute length make it well suited for moderate-depth holes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Its straight cylindrical shank allows it to seat in standard drill chucks and collet holders without special adapters. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation. Typical applications include production machining, toolroom work, and fixture boring where consistent bore geometry is essential.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, turret lathes, and similar machine tools equipped with drill chucks or collet systems accepting a straight cylindrical shank in the 3/8 inch diameter range.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with toolholding standards and cutting tool runout requirements. Secure the straight shank firmly in a drill chuck or collet holder and verify minimal runout before cutting. Always bring the spindle to a full stop before tool changes and follow shop safety protocols for rotating cutting tools. Do not use this reamer as a drill — pre-drill or bore the hole to within a few thousandths of finished size before reaming.
