The HERTEL 79890224 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machining applications. With a nominal diameter of 3/16 inches (0.1875 inches decimal) and a tight diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches, this reamer delivers consistent, accurate bore sizing in a single pass. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it well suited for through-hole and blind-hole finishing in a wide range of workpiece materials. At 2-3/4 inches overall length with a 7/8 inch flute length, the tool fits standard chucking setups on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes. The bright, uncoated solid carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance without added coating thickness that could affect close-tolerance work.
This chucking reamer is used in production and job-shop environments where final bore diameter control is critical. Typical applications include finishing drilled or bored holes to precise fit requirements for dowel pins, bearings, bushings, or close-tolerance assembly features. The straight cylindrical shank interfaces directly with standard drill chucks, collet chucks, and floating reamer holders. Machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators working in metalworking, mold making, and precision component manufacturing will find this tool appropriate for light stock removal and final sizing passes.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, lathes, and similar machine tools equipped with drill chucks or collet chucks accepting a straight cylindrical shank in the 3/16 inch size range.
This reamer should be installed and operated by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with reaming procedures and machine tool operation. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before installing or changing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or drill chuck to secure the straight shank with minimal runout, as excessive runout will degrade hole tolerance and reduce tool life. Reaming is a finishing operation and requires a pre-drilled or bored hole undersized by the appropriate stock allowance for the material being cut — do not use this reamer to open holes from solid.
