The HERTEL 79889606 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machine-shop and production environments. With a reamer diameter of 0.148 inches and a tight tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches, it delivers consistent, repeatable bore sizing in a single pass. The 4-flute straight-flute geometry produces clean surface finishes and efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole applications. The bright, uncoated finish makes it well suited for use on non-ferrous metals, plastics, and other materials where coating adhesion could affect dimensional accuracy. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this reamer with a standard drill press, CNC machining center, or lathe chuck.
This chucking reamer is intended for finish-reaming operations where hole diameter and surface finish tolerances are critical. The straight-cylindrical shank allows secure clamping in a drill chuck, collet, or toolholder. The 3/4-inch flute length accommodates moderate-depth holes, while the 2.5-inch overall length gives adequate clearance for most vertical and horizontal spindle setups. It is commonly used in production machining, tool-and-die work, and maintenance repair operations where precise hole sizing is required.
Designed as an OEM-style precision cutting tool for use in standard drill chucks, collets, and toolholders that accommodate a straight-cylindrical shank at the specified diameter.
Installation and use of chucking reamers should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with cutting tool setup and machine operation. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully secured before starting the machine, and select the appropriate cutting speed and feed rate for the workpiece material. Never force a reamer into an undersized or misaligned hole, as this can damage the cutting edges or cause tool breakage. Follow shop safety protocols and machine manufacturer guidelines during setup and operation.
