The HERTEL 79889481 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machining applications. With a 0.133-inch diameter and a tight tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches, this reamer delivers accurate, repeatable results in close-tolerance bores. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cut make it well suited for through-hole and blind-hole reaming in a range of workpiece materials. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 0.75-inch flute length, it fits standard chuck setups on CNC mills, drill presses, and manual lathes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals reach for this tool when bore finish and dimensional accuracy are the priority.
This chucking reamer is applied in production and job-shop environments where small-diameter holes require a precise final pass after drilling. It is appropriate for use in ferrous and non-ferrous metals as well as engineered plastics when matched to correct speeds and feeds. The straight shank allows direct mounting in standard drill chucks, collets, and floating reamer holders without additional adapters. It is a single-piece solid carbide construction, offering greater rigidity and wear resistance compared to HSS alternatives in harder workpiece materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use chucking reamer for standard drill chuck, collet, and floating reamer holder setups accepting a straight cylindrical shank in the 0.133-inch diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Always secure the workpiece properly and confirm chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits before reaming, as excessive runout will negatively affect bore tolerance. Power down the machine and bring the spindle to a full stop before changing or inspecting tooling. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling recommendations for speeds, feeds, and cutting fluid selection appropriate to the workpiece material.
