The HERTEL 79889291 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machine shop and production environments. With a reamer diameter of 0.106 inches and a tight tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches, this tool delivers accurate, repeatable bore sizing in a single pass. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it well suited for through-holes and short blind holes in a range of materials. At 2.25 inches overall length with a 0.625-inch flute length, this is a compact reamer intended for close-tolerance work on CNC machines, drill presses, and manual lathes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
This chucking reamer is built for use in production machining, tool rooms, and maintenance shops where precise hole sizing is required. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly in a drill chuck or collet for repeatable runout. The solid carbide construction handles hardened steels, cast iron, aluminum, and other materials where high-speed steel would wear prematurely. The bright, uncoated finish keeps the tool at its ground diameter without the dimensional variation that coatings can introduce on small-diameter reamers. Four flutes provide good chip clearance and surface finish at this diameter range.
Designed as a chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a straight cylindrical shank at the 0.106-inch diameter range.
Chucking reamers are installed by machinists and tool room technicians. Secure the straight shank in a well-maintained chuck or collet to minimize runout before use. Always run reamers at reduced speeds and increased feed rates compared to drilling, and use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material. Never reverse a reamer in the cut, as this damages the cutting edges.
