The HERTEL 79889143 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in close-tolerance machining applications. With a 0.087-inch diameter and a reamer diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches, this tool delivers consistent, accurate bores where fit and finish are critical. The 4-flute straight flute geometry provides smooth cutting action and efficient chip evacuation. At 2 inches overall length with a 0.5-inch flute length, this compact reamer is suited for shallow-depth reaming in small-diameter bores. The bright, uncoated finish makes it compatible with a wide range of workpiece materials. It is installed using a standard straight-cylindrical shank and is driven by a drill press, milling machine, or CNC machining center.
This chucking reamer is intended for use in precision machining environments including job shops, tool rooms, and production floors. It handles small-diameter through-holes and blind holes requiring tight dimensional tolerances. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional machine spindle rotation. Typical applications include reaming pilot holes, dowel pin holes, and bearing bores in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. It is sold individually and is appropriate for machinists and toolmakers who require consistent, repeatable hole geometry in small-diameter work.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in drill presses, manual milling machines, and CNC machining centers equipped with a collet or drill chuck capable of holding a straight-cylindrical shank.
This reamer should be installed by a qualified machinist or toolmaker. Secure the straight shank in a precision collet or keyless chuck and ensure the workpiece is rigidly fixtured before operation. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid to the reamer and bore during use to control heat and extend tool life. Never use a reamer to remove more material than its design tolerance allows; pre-drill or bore the hole to the correct stock size before reaming.
