The HERTEL 79889119 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machine tool applications. With a reamer diameter of 0.083 inches and a tight tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches over nominal, this tool holds close dimensional control in through-holes and blind holes alike. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it suitable for short-chipping materials where straight flutes provide adequate chip clearance. Machinists and tool-room technicians install this reamer in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where sub-0.1-inch bore finishing is required.
This chucking reamer is suited for production and repair machining operations where small-diameter hole accuracy is critical. The bright, uncoated solid carbide construction performs well in non-ferrous metals, plastics, and other materials that benefit from carbide rigidity at small diameters. The straight cylindrical shank allows direct mounting in standard collet chucks or drill chucks. With an overall length of 2 inches and a flute length of 0.5 inches, the tool fits compact setups and confined workpiece geometries typical in precision component manufacturing.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard collet chucks, drill chucks, or floating reamer holders on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes accepting a straight cylindrical shank in the sub-0.1-inch diameter range.
Chucking reamers of this diameter are installed by machinists in collet or drill chuck toolholders; ensure the shank seats fully and the chuck is tightened securely before operation. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or inspecting the tool. At small diameters, solid carbide tools are brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without proper support, and contact with hard fixtures. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain bore finish.
