The HERTEL 79888988 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining applications. With a reamer diameter of 0.064 inches and a tight tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches, this tool delivers accurate, repeatable results in close-tolerance bores. The straight flute geometry and bright uncoated finish make it well suited for finishing operations where smooth chip evacuation and surface finish are priorities. At 1.5 inches overall length with a 0.375 inch flute length, it is sized for small-diameter work on CNC machines, drill presses, and manual lathes. Installation requires a standard straight-shank chuck. Right-hand cutting direction is standard.
This chucking reamer is intended for use in precision machining environments where small-diameter bores require tight dimensional control. It is commonly used in job shops, tool rooms, aerospace component manufacturing, and medical device production where hole tolerances in the 0.064-inch range must be held consistently. The straight-cylindrical shank provides positive seating in collet chucks and drill chucks alike. This is a single-piece tool sold individually.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in straight-shank collet chucks, drill chucks, and similar toolholding systems on CNC machining centers, manual mills, lathes, and drill presses capable of holding a straight-cylindrical shank at small diameters.
A licensed machinist or qualified toolroom technician should set up and operate this reamer. Ensure the machine spindle and workpiece are properly secured and that the workpiece bore has been pre-drilled or bored to the correct pre-reaming allowance before use. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling, per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Never force a reamer through an undersized bore, as solid carbide tooling is brittle and will fracture under side loading or excessive feed pressure.
