The HERTEL 79888954 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machining applications. With a 0.06 inch diameter and a tight tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches over nominal, this reamer delivers accurate, repeatable bore dimensions in a single pass. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cut make it well suited for through-hole and blind-hole reaming in a wide range of materials. It features a straight cylindrical shank for secure chuck or collet mounting. Machinists and tool and die professionals use this reamer on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual mills where close-tolerance hole finishing is required.
This reamer is intended for small-diameter precision work in metalworking shops, tool rooms, and production machining environments. Its 0.06 inch cutting diameter places it in the micro-reaming range, making it appropriate for instrument components, fixture pins, and close-tolerance assemblies where hole size and finish are critical. The bright, uncoated carbide surface is compatible with a broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 3/8 inch flute length and 1-1/2 inch overall length suit shallow to moderate depth holes in compact workpieces.
Designed as an OEM-style precision chucking reamer for use in standard straight-shank chuck or collet holders on drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual milling machines.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with precision reaming procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the workpiece is securely fixtured before changing or seating the reamer. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish. Avoid using this reamer to remove excess stock — pre-drill or bore to within 0.002 to 0.005 inches of final diameter before reaming.
