The HERTEL 79888947 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machine shop and production environments. Built with a straight flute geometry and a straight cylindrical shank, this reamer is sized at 0.058 inches in diameter with an overall length of 1-1/2 inches and a flute length of 3/8 inches. The bright, uncoated solid carbide construction delivers rigidity and dimensional accuracy, holding a reamer diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to 0.0002 inches. It is suited for machinists and tool-and-die professionals requiring tight bore tolerances in small-diameter through-hole applications.
This chucking reamer is intended for use in drill press, CNC machining center, or manual lathe setups where a pre-drilled hole must be brought to a precise final diameter. The 0.058-inch size falls within the 0.0500 to 0.0999 inch decimal inch reamer diameter range, making it appropriate for small-bore finishing work in metals and other machinable materials. Four flutes provide balanced cutting action and consistent surface finish in right-hand cutting direction. It is sold as a single unit and is appropriate for low-volume toolroom use or production line tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks, collet chucks, and floating reamer holders accepting a straight cylindrical shank in the 0.058-inch diameter class.
Chucking reamers are installed by licensed machinists or toolroom technicians using a drill press, lathe, or CNC machining center. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the workpiece is securely clamped before mounting or removing the reamer. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and achieve the specified bore finish. Do not use a chucking reamer to remove more stock than the tool geometry and diameter tolerance are designed to handle — pre-drill or bore to within a few thousandths of final diameter before reaming.
