The HERTEL 750689 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metal and composite materials. The 7/32-inch (0.2188-inch) cutting diameter pairs with a 1/4-inch shank and a 1/2-inch length of cut, making this a stub-length tool optimized for rigidity in tight setups. A 30-degree helix spiral flute geometry promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating increases surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. With four flutes and a centercutting design, the tool handles both plunge and lateral milling. It is installed and used by machinists, CNC programmers, and toolroom technicians.
This end mill suits general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloy steels, and hard plastics. The stub-length profile limits deflection when working in shallow pockets, slots, and profiling passes on CNC machining centers or manual knee mills. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation follow standard toolholder conventions. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher speeds and feeds compared to standard-grain carbide, making it a practical choice for production and job-shop environments where tool life and dimensional consistency matter.
Designed as a standard 1/4-inch shank square end mill compatible with any collet chuck, end mill holder, or set-screw holder accepting a 1/4-inch straight shank on CNC machining centers or manual milling machines.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured with appropriate clamping torque per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications before starting the cut. Inspect the collet or holder for runout before use, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on small-diameter carbide tools. Handle carbide end mills carefully to avoid edge chipping during storage and setup.
